In 2006
San Vincenzo was awarded the European
Blue Flag for beaches.
Dotted along the splendid beach with its fine golden
sand stretching out for kilometres are several private
bathing establishments alternating with public facilities
known as “Punti Azzurri”.
The crisp air and light breeze is perfect for water
sports. The former commercial port is now a large, well-equipped
marina with hundreds of berths for boats.

Over 20% of the Costa
degli Etruschi consists of parks, protected areas, nature
and wildlife reserves.
PARCO DI RIMIGLIANO
The Parco Naturale di Rimigliano, is a natural/wildlife
reserve bordering the sea whose unspoilt landscape is
the perfect place to enjoy pleasant strolls.
Established in 1973 and covering around 120 hectares,
the Park is one of the most evocative spots on the coast.
Hosts of sea daffodils blossom on the shore stretching
from San Vincenzo to the gulf of Baratti, the dunes
are covered with juniper bushes, myrtle and lentisk
shrubs; holm-oak and cork-oak woods alternate with pine
thickets on the edges of the beach.
ARCHEOLOGICAL
PARK OF BARATTI AND POPULONIA
The “Parco archeologico di Baratti e Populonia” covers
around 80 hectares and lies on the slopes of the Piombino
headland overlooking the gulf of Baratti. This important
Etruscan archaeological site was the home to the Etruscan
metalworking industry and offers important insights
into their cultural and trading activities.
THEME PARK "CAVALLINO
MATTO"
The Cavallino Matto theme park situated in the Marina
di Castagneto Carducci pinewood offers you the opportunity
to spend an unforgettable day immersed in nature.
Games and attractions suited to the whole family are
laid out in 60,000 sq. m of Mediterranean “macchia”.

Near San Vincenzo you
will find the ancient towns of Campiglia, Suvereto and
Populonia.
CAMPIGLIA
Campiglia Marittima features the typical medieval architecture
characterising the ancient hamlets on the Costa degli
Etruschi.
It is built on the twin peaks of Rocca and Poggiame
with roads, lanes, narrow alleys and houses laid out
in a series of semi-circles along the hill slopes.
A town suspended between thousand years of history and
its busy present, with winding, paved streets leading
to tiny churches, old workshops and museums.
The extremely mild climate favours the surrounding olive
groves, vineyards and Mediterranean “macchia” producing
fine wines and oil.
SUVERETO
One of the valley’s most magnificent “comuni” is without
a doubt Suvereto. Drawn by its unique history and artistic
culture visitors find themselves immersed in the magical
atmosphere of a medieval hamlet surrounded by beautiful
countryside.
POPULONIA
Perched on a hill-top overllooking the sea, this medieval
town is fascinating beyond words.
Its ancient walls, built to protect it from pirates,
and the Rocca, or fortress, constructed in the first
half of the 15th century, enclose narrow paved streets,
little emporiums and a private museum housing Etruscan
and Roman artefacts found in the local area and in the
nearby sea.
A street with a marvellous view of the surrounding panorama
leads from Populonia to the gulf of Baratti, where there
are important Etruscan remains.
